Marte you are correct there are more sellers checking into a Realtors credentials but still not enough. All home sellers should do careful research if they want to increase the odds that they will be happy with the home selling process.
In my opinion it is way too easy to get a Real Estate license. The barriers to entry in this field are way to low. Many folks do think Real Estate is Easy Street and you should have no problem making tons of money. It is quite the opposite and one of the hardest fields to make good money in. The best of the best do very well and the rest barely make enough to survive.

Checking people out online is so easy now. I know more sellers are doing it, but ALL sellers SHOULD be doing it.
By the way, I knew the 80-20 rule was "off" in my area, because of the trouble my son had when he wanted to buy a house and couldn't find an agent willing to help. But I didn't realize it was all the way to 94-6. I'm not surprised, after what he went through.
When I was licensed I knew some agents weren't actually working - but I didn't realize just how bad it was.
Why? Is it because people get into real estate because they think it looks easy?

Thanks Ray. I appreciate the compliments! I have been in the Real Estate business for 24 years so I have seen quite a bit change over the years in our industry. The thing that has remained constant is home sellers often times not doing their home work on who to choose as their Realtor. Online marketing is so vital today as well as making sure you are on your game about giving the seller proper market value advice.

Bill,
I am simply amazed at the frequency and quality of your posts.
This is one topic that I am very passionate about. A huge portion of my Unique Selling Proposition is online marketing. My competition are all practitioners of the 3Ps. As an experienced real estate consultant new to the market I am in it will be easy to rank ahead of my competition for the right keywords.
Let's just hope they don't catch wind of your article and realize what they are missing. :-).
